"As with so many things, finding out is often the most interesting part. For me, participating in the development of a kite festival at Torreilles is a natural continuation. By dint of repeating that the wind's caresses are everywhere and that with a kite the sky is in your hands...... and when we have the fortune to find a environment that has been preserved, and a welcome of rare warmth in a spirit of mutual trust, this collaboration happens without hesitation. After the first edition which took place in favourable weather with a tramontane asleep, this year we must again demonstrate that putting this original event on in this part of the hexagon makes a supplementary tourist attraction for the region. It was with this idea that the International Kite Meeting of Berck......... was born 20 years ago. The first editions were modest affairs bearing little relation with those of today with several hundred thousand spectators. Due to the kite this event has allowed not just a development of tourism but also an economic one- not to omit the communication factor.... We're not at this point at TORREILLES but we are going with the current which pushes us towards a dialogue with the natural elements, simple but terribly essential things, just as all around the world wherever people take pleasure in looking at the sky to recover their childhood emotions. The wind is free -- let's profit from it!"
